Respect Each Other
Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: Be respectful of everyone’s identity, culture, and experiences. Discrimination, hate speech, or any form of prejudice based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or any other identity will not be tolerated.
Kindness and Empathy: Approach conversations with kindness and empathy, especially when discussing sensitive topics. Remember that everyone is here to learn, grow, and support one another.
Safe Space: This is a space for marginalized voices, so ensure that discussions are inclusive and respectful of all community members.
Keep Posts Relevant to the Forum Topic
Focus on the Mission: Keep discussions related to the mission of uplifting Indigenous and LGBTQ+ artists, social justice, and creative collaboration. We encourage sharing artwork, resources, events, and experiences that contribute to these themes.
Stay on Topic: Avoid veering off-topic. If a discussion moves into a new, relevant direction, feel free to create a new thread or topic.
No Spamming
Quality over Quantity: Posts should be meaningful and constructive. No promotional spamming or posting irrelevant content, including unsolicited advertisements, links, or repetitive messages.
Support, Don’t Advertise: If you want to promote your art, project, or business, please do so in the designated areas where promotion is allowed (e.g., Artist Showcase or Resource Sharing sections). Do not clutter discussions with unsolicited promotions.
Constructive Criticism Only
Build Each Other Up: When critiquing artwork or ideas, do so with the intention to help the artist grow. Offer feedback that is constructive and considerate. Remember that all work is valuable, and we are here to help each other improve and learn.
Be Specific: If you're giving feedback, be specific about what you appreciate and what could be improved. Avoid vague or hurtful comments.
Protect Privacy and Confidentiality
Respect Privacy: Do not share personal information about others without their explicit consent. If someone shares personal experiences or challenges, treat that information with care and respect.
Safe Sharing: While we encourage members to share their work and ideas, do not pressure others into sharing anything they are uncomfortable with. Artists should feel safe to share their creations without fear of exploitation or judgment.
Support Local and Global Communities
Promote Awareness: Share resources, events, and opportunities that benefit Indigenous, LGBTQ+, or other marginalized communities. This includes showcasing opportunities for collaboration, grants, events, and causes that align with the mission of supporting social justice and equality.
Be Mindful of Cultural Sensitivity: When sharing artwork or cultural references, be mindful of how cultural appropriation can harm marginalized communities. Show respect and consideration for the traditions and experiences of others, particularly Indigenous cultures.
Collaboration Over Competition
Encourage Collaboration: This is a space for cooperation, not competition. Focus on working together, whether it's through creative projects, mutual aid, or advocacy for social justice. Promote sharing knowledge, resources, and inspiration with one another.
Celebrate Everyone’s Success: Celebrate milestones and achievements, both big and small. This is a place to uplift one another and highlight collective accomplishments.
Trigger Warnings and Sensitive Topics
Respect Mental and Emotional Well-Being: Some discussions may touch on sensitive topics related to social justice, personal struggles, or trauma. Please use trigger warnings when discussing topics that could be distressing to others (e.g., sexual assault, mental health, racism, etc.).
Appropriate Content: Posts should be respectful and considerate of the emotional well-being of others. This is a space for healing and support, not for harmful content.
Dispute Resolution
Handle Conflicts Privately: If you have an issue with another member, please address it privately through direct messages or a moderator. Do not engage in public arguments or personal attacks in the forum.
Moderators Are Here to Help: If there is a conflict or rule violation, please contact a moderator. We are here to ensure the community remains safe, respectful, and inclusive for everyone.
Inclusive Language
Use Language That Includes All Identities: This space values inclusive language. Be mindful of how language can shape perceptions and experiences. Use gender-neutral terms when applicable and respect people's chosen identities and pronouns.
